The Special Air Service (SAS) is not a single character, but a regiment within the British Army. It is a special forces unit renowned for its expertise in counter-terrorism, special operations, and covert reconnaissance.

Established during World War II in 1941, the SAS was initially conceived by David Stirling as a small, highly mobile raiding force operating behind enemy lines in North Africa. Their early successes led to the regiment's expansion and diversification.

Throughout its history, the SAS has participated in numerous conflicts and operations worldwide, from the Malayan Emergency to the Falklands War and more recently, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Selection for the SAS is extremely rigorous, emphasizing physical and mental endurance, resilience, and teamwork.

While fictional characters may be inspired by the SAS, the organization itself is a real and highly respected military unit, composed of many individual soldiers rather than a singular, identifiable character.
