Mara Jade Skywalker was a prominent figure in the Star Wars Expanded Universe, now known as Legends. Initially a powerful Force-sensitive operative known as "The Emperor's Hand," she served Emperor Palpatine directly, carrying out his most sensitive missions.
Following Palpatine's death at the Battle of Endor, Mara was driven by a lingering command in the Force to kill Luke Skywalker. This directive stemmed from the Emperor's contingency plans. Her path eventually crossed with Luke's, leading to a complex and often antagonistic relationship.
Through various trials and tribulations, including facing off against Grand Admiral Thrawn and battling the Dark Jedi Joruus C'baoth, Mara gradually shed her allegiance to the fallen Empire and embraced the light side of the Force. She and Luke ultimately fell in love and married, becoming a powerful Jedi couple.
Mara Jade Skywalker became a respected Jedi Master and a crucial member of the New Jedi Order. She and Luke had a son, Ben Skywalker, named after Obi-Wan Kenobi. Sadly, her life was cut short when she was killed by her nephew, Jacen Solo, who had fallen to the dark side and become Darth Caedus.
