Zoom, also known as Professor Zoom or Eobard Thawne, is a supervillain and a prominent adversary of the Flash in DC Comics. He originates from the 25th century and possesses an obsession with the Flash, particularly Barry Allen. He is often considered Barry's archenemy.

Thawne was initially a scientist fascinated by the Flash, traveling back in time to meet his idol. However, upon learning he was destined to become the Flash's greatest enemy, he embraced the role, driven by a twisted desire to improve the Flash by forcing him to overcome personal tragedies.

Zoom's powers stem from his manipulation of the Speed Force. He does not actually run at super speed; instead, he manipulates his personal timeline, allowing him to move at incredible velocities and phase through objects. He is also a master manipulator and strategist, often targeting the Flash's loved ones to inflict maximum emotional damage. His motivation is to make the Flash a “better hero”.
