The Mouth of Sauron was a prominent figure in Sauron's army during the War of the Ring. His true name and origins are unknown, lost to the mists of time and his complete devotion to the Dark Lord.
He was a Númenórean Man who entered Sauron's service and rose to become his lieutenant at Barad-dûr, the Dark Tower. He served as Sauron's herald and ambassador, a chilling figure known for his cruelty and mastery of deception.
The Mouth of Sauron appears before Aragorn and the army of the West at the Black Gate, attempting to demoralize them with false claims of Frodo Baggins' capture and death. He presents Sam's sword, Frodo's mithril coat, and an Elven cloak as proof.
His intention was to force the surrender of the free peoples to Sauron, thus ending the war without a final battle. His lies were eventually exposed, but he succeeded in sowing doubt and despair, albeit temporarily.
