Biography:
Nessarose Thropp, often referred to as Nessie, is a significant character in the musical Wicked, which has seen numerous stage productions and is adapted into film in 2024. She is the younger sister of Elphaba Thropp, the future Wicked Witch of the West.
Born with a physical disability that prevents her from walking, Nessarose is initially favored by her father, who provides her with enchanted silver shoes to help her move. These shoes are later taken from her by Dorothy Gale, in *The Wizard of Oz*.
Nessarose attends Shiz University with her sister. She is portrayed as insecure and sheltered due to her disability. Later in the story, Nessarose becomes the Governor of Munchkinland, where she enforces oppressive laws and, in some portrayals, develops a romantic interest in Boq, a Munchkin man who is actually in love with Glinda.
