Lifeguard, whose real name is Heather Cameron, is a Marvel Comics mutant. She first appeared in X-Treme X-Men #6 in 2001.
Heather possesses the mutant ability to instinctively transform into whatever is necessary to save lives in extreme situations. This power is often manifested as physical changes, such as wings for flight or gills for underwater rescue.
Prior to becoming a member of the X-Treme X-Men team, Heather worked as a lifeguard in Australia. She and her brother, Davis (Slipstream), were recruited by Storm to join the team during their search for Destiny's Diaries.
Her powers have been known to be unpredictable, and she has sometimes struggled to control her transformations. This is partly because they're triggered by situations, often occurring when the need arises without her conscious will.
Lifeguard has been a significant member of various X-Men affiliated teams, lending her unique abilities to protect others.
