Zombie Pigman, now known as Zombie Villagers, were once a common neutral mob in Minecraft. They originated in the Nether dimension and, prior to version 1.16, spawned in large groups, often near nether portals.

Their distinctive appearance featured green, decaying skin reminiscent of zombies, combined with the snout and fleshy appearance of a pig. They also wore tattered golden pants, indicating their connection to Piglins.

Zombie Pigman were unique because they were generally passive unless provoked. Attacking one would enrage the entire group, leading to a potentially dangerous swarm. They wielded golden swords, reflecting the Piglin's culture, and dropped gold nuggets and, rarely, golden swords upon death.

In the Nether Update (1.16), they were replaced by Zombie Piglins, marking a significant change to Nether mob behavior and lore. While Zombie Pigmen no longer naturally spawn in this dimension, they still exist in the game. When lightning strikes near a Pig, it has the chance to turn the Pig into a Zombified Piglin.
