Plastic Man, also known as Patrick "Eel" O'Brian, is a fictional superhero appearing in DC Comics. He debuted in 1941 in Police Comics #1.
O'Brian was originally a low-level criminal who, during a heist at a chemical plant, was doused in an unknown chemical liquid. Instead of killing him, the chemical altered his physiology, granting him incredible elasticity and malleability.
Repulsed by his criminal past and inspired by the security guard he'd injured during the robbery, O'Brian decided to use his newfound powers for good, becoming Plastic Man. He possesses the ability to stretch, bend, deform, and reshape his body into virtually any form imaginable. He is functionally invulnerable due to his fluid body structure.
Plastic Man is often portrayed as a humorous and lighthearted character, contrasting with the often-grim nature of the superhero genre. He frequently partners with other heroes and has been a member of teams like the Justice League. He's also known to be an effective detective.
