Chicken, often simply referred to as "Chicken" within the Minecraft universe, is a ubiquitous passive mob. It is characterized by its blocky, avian appearance, featuring yellow feathers, a small red beak, and black eyes.

Chickens serve primarily as a resource for the player. Upon death, a Chicken drops raw chicken (which can be cooked for increased nourishment) and feathers. Feathers are essential components in crafting arrows, a vital ranged weapon in the game.

Furthermore, Chickens occasionally lay eggs. These eggs can be thrown as a projectile or, more importantly, used in crafting cake, a multi-ingredient food item that restores a significant amount of hunger. Eggs can also be hatched into baby chickens, allowing players to establish sustainable chicken farms.

While possessing no offensive capabilities, Chickens are valuable for their resource provision and ease of breeding, making them a common and essential part of many players' Minecraft experiences.
