Owen Grady is a former U.S. Navy SEAL turned animal behaviorist who specializes in training velociraptors. His expertise lies in establishing a relationship of respect and control, rather than outright domination, with these intelligent and dangerous predators.

Grady is recruited to Jurassic World, the fully operational dinosaur theme park on Isla Nublar, to assess the park's raptor program and ensure its safety. He develops a unique bond with the four raptors under his charge: Blue, Charlie, Delta, and Echo, viewing them as individuals rather than mere assets.

When the genetically engineered Indominus Rex escapes containment, Grady's skills and knowledge become crucial in the effort to contain the creature and prevent further casualties. He utilizes his understanding of raptor behavior to track the Indominus and attempt to regain control of his pack, who are briefly swayed to the hybrid's side.

Beyond his professional life, Grady forms a complicated romantic relationship with Claire Dearing, the park's operations manager. His pragmatic and survivalist skills are often contrasted with Claire's more corporate and management-focused approach, leading to both conflict and cooperation as they navigate the dangers of Jurassic World.
