Biography:
Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968) was a pivotal figure in the American Civil Rights Movement. A Baptist minister by profession, King advocated for nonviolent resistance to racial segregation and discrimination in the United States.
He rose to prominence as a leader of the Montgomery bus boycott in 1955, sparked by Rosa Parks' refusal to give up her seat. This event catapulted him onto the national stage, where he continued to champion civil rights.
