Biography:
Raymond "Ray" Palmer, known as Atom, is a brilliant scientist and inventor in the CW's Arrowverse, primarily appearing in Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. A graduate of MIT, Ray inherited Palmer Technologies (formerly Queen Consolidated) after Oliver Queen's presumed death.
Driven by the loss of his fiancée, Anna Loring, during Slade Wilson's Mirakuru-fueled attack on Starling City, Ray dedicated himself to creating a technologically advanced suit. This suit, the A.T.O.M. (Advanced Technology Operating Mechanism), granted him superhuman strength, flight, and the ability to fire energy blasts.
Initially seeking to protect Starling City (later Star City) with his suit, Ray eventually joined the Legends of Tomorrow. His Atom suit was modified by Gideon to shrink and grow to various sizes, giving Ray Palmer his signature size-changing powers from the comics. Ray is known for his optimistic personality, brilliant intellect, and dedication to helping others, though he can sometimes be naive.
