Supergirl, in the New 52 DC continuity, is Kara Zor-El, Superman's Kryptonian cousin. Born on Krypton before its destruction, she was sent to Earth in a separate escape pod.
Unlike Superman, Kara arrives on Earth later than expected, disoriented and initially distrustful of her cousin and the unfamiliar world. She retains vivid memories of Krypton and struggles with survivor's guilt.
Her powers are nearly identical to Superman's, including flight, super strength, heat vision, and invulnerability. However, she is often portrayed as less disciplined and more prone to impulsive decisions than her older cousin.
Throughout the New 52, Supergirl grapples with her identity, loyalty, and adapting to a new life while wrestling with the trauma of her planet's demise. She eventually comes to terms with her role as a hero and a protector of Earth, though her journey is marked by internal conflict and external challenges.
