Anya Corazón, also known as Spider-Girl (and later Spider-Woman), is a Marvel Comics superheroine. Her origin story begins when she is caught in a battle between the Sisterhood of the Wasp and the Spider Society.
Injured, Anya receives a mystical spider tattoo from Miguel Legar, a member of the Spider Society. This tattoo grants her enhanced strength, speed, agility, and a spider-sense.
Initially, Anya's powers are limited and she wears an exoskeleton suit to augment her abilities. She operates under the mentorship of Miguel Legar and later takes on the name Araña, meaning "spider" in Spanish.
After Miguel's death, Anya inherits his position and responsibilities within the Spider Society. She eventually sheds the Araña identity and exoskeleton, embracing the mantle of Spider-Girl. Later taking up Jessica Drew's mantle of Spider-Woman.
Anya has been a member of various superhero teams, including the Young Allies and the Secret Avengers. She is a resourceful and determined hero, dedicated to protecting the innocent.
