Benjamin "Ben" Grimm, also known as the Thing, is a founding member of Marvel Comics' superhero team, the Fantastic Four. His origin lies in a fateful cosmic ray bombardment during an unauthorized space flight.
Originally a skilled pilot and college football star, Ben piloted the experimental rocket designed by Reed Richards. The radiation transformed him into a monstrous, rock-like being with superhuman strength, stamina, and durability.
