Billy Batson is a troubled teenager living in the foster care system of Philadelphia. Initially cynical and distrustful, Billy's life takes a dramatic turn when he's summoned to the Rock of Eternity.

Chosen by the ancient wizard Shazam, Billy is deemed worthy to inherit his power. By uttering the wizard's name, "Shazam!", Billy is transformed into a powerful adult superhero with abilities granted by six legendary figures: Solomon's wisdom, Hercules' strength, Atlas' stamina, Zeus' power, Achilles' courage, and Mercury's speed.

Despite his immense powers, Billy initially struggles to control them and grapples with the responsibilities that come with being a hero. He is also learning to trust his foster family and embrace the concept of family itself. Billy must learn to balance his normal life with his newfound superhero duties while facing threats both magical and mundane.
