Forge is a mutant character in Marvel Comics, primarily associated with the X-Men. Born in Dallas, Texas, he possesses the mutant ability of intuitive mechanical invention. This allows him to instinctively understand and create mechanical devices, even without prior knowledge of their specific functions.

Originally a Cheyenne Native American shaman, Forge lost his right hand and leg during the Vietnam War. These were replaced with cybernetic enhancements of his own design, further amplifying his technological prowess. This traumatic experience also led him to distrust his shamanic abilities for a time, focusing more on his mechanical talents.

Forge has worked extensively with the X-Men, providing them with advanced weaponry and technological support. He developed the Danger Room's advanced holographic system and has been romantically involved with Storm. His complex relationship with her has been a recurring theme in his appearances. He also at one time, removed Storm's powers which caused more tension between them.

Over the years, Forge has been portrayed as both an ally and an antagonist, his actions often driven by a desire to protect the world from threats, even if it requires morally ambiguous decisions.
