Gentleman Ghost, also known as James Craddock, is a recurring villain in the DC Comics universe, primarily associated with Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and Batman. He is a spectral highwayman from 19th-century England. He was born illegitimately and robbed wealthy aristocrats to survive.
Craddock's death came at the hands of a man he tried to rob. However, his soul was unable to pass on, cursed to remain on Earth until he is defeated twice by a descendant of the man who killed him. His ghostly form grants him intangibility, invisibility, and the ability to possess others.
