Lightning Lad, also known as Garth Ranzz, is a founding member of the Legion of Super-Heroes in DC Comics' futuristic setting. He hails from Winath, a planet where twins are considered an anomaly and often separated.
Garth, along with his twin sister Ayla (Lightning Lass), and his older brother Mekt (later known as Lightning Lord), gained their electrical powers after being attacked by lightning beasts on Korbal.
Driven by a desire to use his abilities for good, Garth traveled to Earth and helped found the Legion of Super-Heroes. He famously sacrificed himself to save Saturn Girl from a deadly energy blast, only to be resurrected later through a complex scientific process.
Lightning Lad is known for his impulsive nature, strong moral compass, and leadership abilities within the Legion. He possesses the power to generate and project electricity, making him a formidable opponent and a crucial asset to the team. He has romantic ties to Saturn Girl.
