Biography:
King Tut, also known as Dr. Kirk Langstrom, is a Batman villain who first appeared in Batman #171 (May 1965). Unlike the real historical figure, this King Tut is not an ancient Egyptian pharaoh, but a professor of Egyptology at Gotham University.
Langstrom suffered a brain injury in a laboratory accident during an experiment. This incident caused him to believe he was the reincarnation of the pharaoh Tutankhamun. Consequently, he adopted the identity of King Tut, attempting to rule Gotham City as he believed a pharaoh should rule Egypt.
King Tut's schemes usually involve elaborate plots referencing ancient Egyptian mythology and rituals. He often captures prominent Gotham citizens and subjects them to symbolic punishments or sacrifices, all with the ultimate goal of establishing his own Egyptian dynasty in the city.
Despite his delusion and criminal behavior, King Tut is not inherently evil. He is often portrayed as a brilliant man driven mad by his condition. While a recurring figure in the Silver Age of comics, his appearances have been less frequent in more modern iterations, although he occasionally resurfaces to plague Gotham with his Egyptian-themed madness.
