General Zod, also known as Dru-Zod, is a recurring antagonist in DC Comics, primarily associated with Superman. He hails from the planet Krypton and is a military leader with a deep-seated belief in Kryptonian superiority.
Before Krypton's destruction, Zod led a military revolt against the Kryptonian Science Council, seeking to establish a militaristic government. This rebellion, along with his practice of genetic engineering, led to his imprisonment in the Phantom Zone, a dimension of timeless void.
Zod often escapes the Phantom Zone and clashes with Superman on Earth, possessing similar Kryptonian superpowers under Earth's yellow sun.
