James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes, known as the Winter Soldier, is a complex figure from Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Born in 1917, Bucky served alongside Steve Rogers (Captain America) during World War II, fighting against HYDRA.
Presumed dead after a fall from a train in 1945, Bucky was recovered by Soviet forces. He was then brainwashed and subjected to experimentation, transforming him into a highly skilled assassin with a cybernetic arm and enhanced physical abilities.
As the Winter Soldier, he carried out covert operations for decades, remaining a formidable, but largely unaware, weapon. His past actions haunt him as he slowly regains his memory.
