Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch, is a central figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Born in Sokovia, she and her twin brother Pietro volunteered for HYDRA experiments after their parents were killed in a Stark Industries bombing.

These experiments exposed them to the Mind Stone, granting Wanda immense powers including telekinesis, telepathy, and energy manipulation. Initially driven by revenge against Tony Stark, the twins allied with Ultron before defecting to the Avengers.

Pietro was killed during the Battle of Sokovia, profoundly impacting Wanda. She joined the Avengers, grappling with the control and implications of her powers. A complex relationship with Vision developed, culminating in a romantic bond.

Vision's death at the hands of Thanos to prevent him from obtaining the Mind Stone further traumatized Wanda. Driven by grief, she created a false reality in Westview, New Jersey, unintentionally enslaving its residents.

Later, she seeks to understand and control her power and eventually, is corrupted by the Darkhold to seek to bring her children from Westview into existance in reality. This leads to a multiversal pursuit that causes significant damage to the stability of reality. She is presumed dead at Mount Wundagore, however, her fate is unknown.
