Desperate to save Nora, who he cryogenically preserved, Fries turned to crime to fund his research. He uses advanced cryo-technology to commit crimes, often freezing his enemies and causing chaos in Gotham City. His motivation is not malice, but rather a singular, unwavering devotion to his wife.

While often portrayed as a villain, Mr. Freeze is a complex character. His actions are fueled by grief and a profound love, making him a sympathetic figure despite his criminal behavior.
