Toxin is a fictional character appearing in Marvel Comics, primarily associated with Spider-Man and Venom. He is the third major symbiote in the Spider-Man universe, following Venom and Carnage.

Patrick Mulligan, a New York City police officer, became Toxin's host. Carnage, during a battle, impregnated himself with his own symbiote offspring. Fearing the new symbiote would become too powerful and surpass him in evil, Carnage bonded the infant symbiote to Mulligan, hoping its morality would be influenced by the host's good nature.

Mulligan struggled to control Toxin's violent urges, balancing his duty as a police officer with the symbiote's inherent aggression. He initially sought help from Spider-Man and Venom, who both had different opinions on how to handle the situation. Over time, Mulligan developed a degree of control, using Toxin's powers for good, but the constant internal conflict remained.

Toxin possesses enhanced strength, speed, agility, and durability, as well as the ability to shapeshift, create bladed weapons, and cling to surfaces, similar to Venom and Carnage. However, Toxin's powers are often considered even greater than its predecessors, making him a formidable and unpredictable force.
