Superman, also known as Kal-El, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. He was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, and first appeared in Action Comics #1 (June 1938).

Born on the planet Krypton, Kal-El was sent to Earth as an infant by his parents, Jor-El and Lara Lor-Van, moments before Krypton's destruction. His spacecraft landed in rural America, where he was found and raised by farmers Jonathan and Martha Kent, who named him Clark Kent and instilled in him strong moral values.

Under Earth's yellow sun, Clark developed extraordinary abilities, including super strength, flight, invulnerability, heat vision, and x-ray vision. He uses these powers to protect the innocent and fight for truth, justice, and the American way. To maintain a normal life, Clark works as a mild-mannered reporter for the Daily Planet in Metropolis.
