Dr. Victor Fries, more widely known as Mr. Freeze, is a DC Comics villain primarily associated with Batman. First appearing in the classic 1960s television series, he was created as a flamboyant, science-themed antagonist.
In this original portrayal, Freeze (played initially by George Sanders, followed by Otto Preminger and Eli Wallach) is depicted as a scientist whose research requires sub-zero temperatures. He develops a device to induce cold, eventually creating a freezing suit to survive in his self-made Arctic environment.
