El Diablo is a name used by several distinct characters in DC Comics, each possessing pyrokinetic abilities, but with varying origins and motivations.

The original El Diablo, Lazarus Lane, debuted in 1970. He was a bank teller in the Old West who was struck by lightning and revived by a dying Native American shaman. He then became possessed by a demon and became a vigilante. He would later be shown to be the first to bare the mantle, as those who were possessed were given the name by the demon who called himself "El Diablo".

Rafael Sandoval, introduced in 1989, was a Los Angeles city councilman who took on the El Diablo mantle to fight drug crime. He had the ability to create and control fire. He was eventually succeeded by...

Chato Santana is the most recent and arguably most well-known El Diablo, appearing in the New 52 continuity. A former gang member with self-proclaimed metahuman fire-based powers, he initially struggles with his destructive abilities. He joins the Suicide Squad, seeking redemption for his past actions and to learn to control his powers.

Each El Diablo serves as a complex anti-hero, battling personal demons alongside external threats, often grappling with the consequences of their fiery powers and the nature of justice.
