The Red Lanterns are fueled by rage, a destructive force that replaces their blood with liquid fire. At the forefront of this corps stands Atrocitus, their founder and most prominent member.

Atrocitus, whose original name was Atros, hails from the planet Ryut in Sector 666. He was one of only five survivors of the Massacre of Sector 666, a horrific event where the Manhunters, early prototypes of the Green Lantern Corps, slaughtered his entire sector on the false pretense of order.

Consumed by immense rage and hatred towards the Guardians of the Universe (the creators of the Manhunters), Atrocitus dedicated his existence to seeking vengeance. He tapped into the power of red rage, becoming the first Red Lantern, forging the Red Lantern Central Power Battery on the planet Okaara, and creating a corps dedicated to enacting his bloody retribution.

More than just a powerful warrior, Atrocitus is a strategist and manipulator, always seeking to exploit any weakness to achieve his goals. While his methods are brutal and destructive, they stem from a profound sense of loss and injustice.
