Jay Garrick, portrayed by John Wesley Shipp, is the Flash of Earth-2 in The CW's DC television universe, primarily featured in "The Flash" and related crossovers. He is a seasoned speedster who originally operated during the Golden Age of Heroes on his Earth.
Garrick gained his speed powers through a laboratory accident involving hard water, which altered his body and gave him superhuman velocity. As the Flash, he fought crime and protected Central City on Earth-2 for many years, becoming a respected hero and inspiring hope in his city.
