Wanda Maximoff, a prominent character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, originated in Sokovia. Orphaned alongside her twin brother Pietro by a Stark Industries missile, Wanda developed a deep-seated resentment towards Tony Stark and the Avengers.
Following the tragedy, both Wanda and Pietro volunteered for HYDRA experiments led by Baron Wolfgang von Strucker. These experiments unlocked latent superhuman abilities within Wanda, including telekinesis, energy manipulation, and reality warping.
Initially aligned against the Avengers, Wanda eventually switched sides, realizing the true threat posed by Ultron. She joined the Avengers, fighting alongside them against numerous threats and developing a close relationship with Vision.
Vision's death during the Infinity War deeply traumatized Wanda, triggering a breakdown that led her to create a false reality in Westview, New Jersey. This reality, explored in the series WandaVision, revealed the full extent of her powers and explored her grief and trauma. The events in Westview solidified her transformation into the Scarlet Witch.
Since WandaVision, Wanda has faced the consequences of her actions and has grappled with her immense power. She is considered one of the most powerful beings in the MCU.
