Doctor Who
Biography:
The First Doctor, portrayed primarily by William Hartnell, was the initial incarnation of the Doctor in the BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who. He appeared from 1963 to 1966.
Stern and occasionally cantankerous, the First Doctor initially presented as an enigmatic and sometimes untrustworthy figure. He traveled in his time-and-space machine, the TARDIS, alongside his granddaughter Susan Foreman, and later with companions like Barbara Wright and Ian Chesterton, two teachers from Susan's school.
Hartnell's portrayal established key characteristics of the Doctor, including his immense intellect, his adventurous spirit, and his deep-seated moral compass, albeit sometimes hidden beneath a gruff exterior. The First Doctor's era explored historical adventures and introduced iconic adversaries like the Daleks and the Cybermen.
Due to Hartnell's declining health, the character was regenerated into the Second Doctor, played by Patrick Troughton, marking a significant moment in the show's history and establishing the concept of regeneration as a means of continuing the series with different actors in the lead role.
