Biography:
Catman, also known as Thomas Blake, is a DC Comics character who originated as a Batman villain in 1960s Detective Comics. Initially a wealthy big-game hunter who lost his fortune, Blake adopted the persona of Catman, using a cat-themed suit and specialized weaponry.
He attempted to become a master thief, often crossing paths with Batman and Robin. However, Catman's early appearances were largely campy and he was considered a second-rate villain, eventually fading into obscurity.
Catman underwent a significant reinvention in Gail Simone's 2000s run on the *Villains United* series. Simone reimagined him as a more complex and formidable character. Abandoning his prior ineptitude, he honed his fighting skills, tracking abilities, and animalistic instincts, becoming a skilled predator and tactician.
This modernized Catman joined Lex Luthor's Secret Society of Super-Villains, but later defected to form his own team, the Secret Six. This new iteration portrayed him as a bisexual anti-hero, struggling with his inner demons and often seeking redemption, solidifying his place as a memorable and compelling figure within the DC Universe.
