Terry McGinnis is Batman in the futuristic Neo-Gotham of the DC Animated Universe's Batman Beyond. He isn't Bruce Wayne, but a teenager who stumbles upon Wayne Manor and discovers Bruce's secret past.
After his father is murdered by a corrupt businessman tied to Wayne Enterprises, Terry seeks Bruce Wayne's help. Bruce, now an elderly recluse, initially refuses. However, Terry's determination and similar circumstances lead him to steal the advanced Batman suit.
Reluctantly, Bruce Wayne becomes Terry's mentor, guiding him in the ways of Batman. Terry possesses no formal martial arts training initially, relying on the suit's capabilities and Bruce's guidance. He fights a new breed of criminals and villains, often with futuristic technology. He is known for his agile fighting style and quick wit.
Beyond protecting Gotham, Terry balances his duties with school and relationships, a constant struggle that adds to the complexities of being the new Batman. His relationship with Bruce evolves from mentor/student to something closer to a father-son bond.
