Biography:
Deadpool, also known as Wade Wilson, is a fictional antihero appearing in Marvel Comics. He was created by writer Fabian Nicieza and artist/writer Rob Liefeld, first appearing in The New Mutants #98 (February 1991).
Wilson began his career as a mercenary for hire. He voluntarily undergoes the Weapon X program, designed to give him healing abilities similar to Wolverine. The experiment is successful but leaves him severely disfigured.
Gifted with accelerated healing, superhuman stamina, agility, and reflexes, Deadpool is virtually immortal. However, his unstable healing factor combined with the Weapon X experimentation leaves him mentally unbalanced and prone to erratic behavior.
Deadpool is known for his signature red and black costume, fourth-wall breaking humor, and constant banter. Though often acting as a villain or antihero, he occasionally finds himself doing good, blurring the lines between hero and villain.
He's a popular character who is featured in his own comic series, animated series, and live-action films, portrayed by Ryan Reynolds.
