Golden Age Deadpool, also known as Fred Van Lente's Deadpool, is a reimagining of the classic Deadpool character set during World War II. Introduced in the 2010 miniseries Deadpool Pulp, this version takes the irreverent mercenary out of the modern era and places him into a noir-inspired, hardboiled setting.
Rather than a mutant with a healing factor, Golden Age Deadpool, Wade Wilson, is portrayed as a skilled and resourceful mercenary, albeit one still prone to breaking the fourth wall and making inappropriate jokes. His costume maintains the core Deadpool design, but is adapted to reflect the wartime aesthetic with a more tactical and less fantastical appearance.
In Deadpool Pulp, he is hired by a mysterious client to track down a missing scientist with crucial knowledge, thrusting him into a conspiracy involving Nazis and Cold War precursors. This version retains the core essence of Deadpool's personality, just reframed within a vastly different historical context and genre. His character blends the familiar comedic elements with the gritty atmosphere of pulp fiction, offering a unique take on the Merc with a Mouth.
